Pattern designers need quilts to be quilted too!

Amy Smart is the force behind “Diary of a Quilter”, and she’s sent me this sweet starry Christmas quilt for a freehand quilting finishing touch.

I plan to quilt my Crazy 8s design – free motion, of course! – and it’ll be done as a live stream from my studio. As always, I’ll be quilting in real-time. No edits or speeding up.

I’ll chat through:

• loading the backing
• choosing the batting (and I’ve got a treat in store for Amy!)
• the actual freehand quilting, and squaring up the quilt as I go
• my favorite (rather magical) marking tool

Amy’s a great quilt piecer, so this quilt has no particular challenges. It’ll be fun to have plenty of time to chat with viewers when I know all the seams lay flat, etc 😉
